A Closer Look into the UNC vs VT game

As many College Football, ACC, UNC, and VT fans know; the Hokies and Tarheels kickoff at 3:30 pm in Chapel Hill. We know a few things like how UNC is a 9-point favorite, but maybe we need to uncover some deeper thoughts about this matchup. This match-up dates all the way back to 1895 when UNC defeated VT 32-5. It’s come a long way since then with a total of 43 matchups. Virginia Tech does both have the most wins and has a current win streak against UNC. Virginia Tech has played a total of fourteen games in Chapel hill and won seven of them. Does this mean something in this coming up game; very much so. UNC’s offense has been looking really hot of huge performances from; Drake Maye (QB #10), Josh Downs (WR #11), and Omarion Hampton (RB #28).

We have also seen great performances by Virginia Tech’s defense too. Some players with outstanding performances are; Dax Hollifield (LB #4), Chamarii Conner (DB #1), and Nasir Peoples (DB #5). On the other sides of the ball, both had a little shaky start. With the Hokie’s star running back, Malachi Thomas (RB #24) injured, the Hokies fight a battle with building a strong offense. It has been seen that he is back to practicing in full pads and should be playing soon. UNC’s defense is also struggling as their defense has let up 1,981 total yards and 158 points against opponents. It seems the problem is the Defensive Coordinator, Gene Chizik. It would make sense considering they have the talent and the experience, the coaching is just lacking. There is a lot to consider in this game and I believe this is going to be a very good game, but have Virginia Tech winning 27-24.
