Flyers Season Preview

The Flyers will begin there season at Home versus the Vancouver Canucks tonight. This is a highly anticipated matchup as the Flyers and Canucks both have very high hopes heading into the 2021-22 season. As for the Flyers, they have made some key off-season moves. Such as, Defenseman Ryan Ellis, Defenseman Keith Yandle, Forward Cam Atkinson, Rasmus Ristolainen. They have also lost many players via trade or free agency. Like, Defenseman Shayne Gostisbehere and a couple picks for Cap Space. Defenseman Phil Myers and Forward Nolan Patrick in a 3-way trade for Ryan Ellis. Defenseman Robert Hagg and some picks for Rasmus Ristolainen. Finally, Forward Jake Voracek for Cam Atkinson. Now that we have went over our key off-season moves, I would like to give us a grade, in the end we got Cap space, we got some Star players in Atkinson and Ellis, and got rid of players with little to no potential like Patrick, Hagg and Gostisbehere. That in my opinion, deserves an A-. We did overpay for cap space by giving up Gostisbehere and a few picks, but that’s the only ‘bad’ move that we made this off-season. Now let’s preview the Canucks vs Flyers game! The Canucks come into this game at 0-0-1 after losing in a shootout to the Edmonton Oilers. Oliver Ekman-Larsson and Quinn Hughes scored the goal for the Canucks. What I take away from that game is that the Canucks will allow goals, their defensive pair of Huges and Ekman-Larsson is a very strong pair and will be a tough matchup for our forwards. The Canucks goalie will likely be Thatcher Demko, a young talented goalie had 32 saves Wednesday. For the Flyers we can expect to have Carter Hart in net, the young goalie entering his 3rd year as the Flyers goaltender. Here are the lines you can expect to be see tonight, 1st line; Giroux, Couturier, Konecny. 2nd line; Farabee, Brassard, Atkinson. 3rd line; Lindblom, Laughton, JVR. 4th line: Willman, Thompson, NAK.

Defensive Lines:
1st line; Provorov, Ellis.
2nd line; Sanheim, Braun.
3rd line; Seeler, Yandle.

Now last but not least, let’s get my Metropolitan Standings Predictions, 1st – Islanders, 2nd – Hurricanes, 3rd – Rangers, 4th – Flyers, 5th – Penguins, 6th – Capitals, 7th – Devils, 8th – BlueJackets.

As you can see I have the Flyers finishing in 4th place and MAKING the playoffs (!) at a 46-29-7 Record standing at 99 points!
