Steph Curry, Klay Thompson, and Draymond Green have all voiced their opinions to management pushing for them to trade for veterans. Last season, the team’s average age was 26.4, and the GSW core wants that number to rise.
With the Warriors’ current 7th and 14th pick in the draft, plus Wiseman from last year’s draft, the Warriors have a small yet enticing arsenal of resources. However, despite the remarks of the three stars, the front office in Golden State has prevailed rather hesitant to trade away picks and young players. Also, giving Steph, Klay, and Draymond’s age, the Warriors very well might want to hang onto their younger players and picks, as they are the only promise they have left after their three star’s careers have been accomplished. With Oubre Jr., Jordan Poole, Damion Lee, and Kent Bazemore on the roster, the Warriors’ have trade bait. However, the bait is only large enough to attract small fish. Whether they can reel in a larger catch with some attached draft picks will be up to the trade partner.
