The Giants optioned Joey Bart to Triple-A after yesterday’s game. Giants traded for Phillies catcher Austin Wynns, who will seemingly join Curt Casali at big league level. They sent the Phillies LHP Michael Plassmeyer and cash considerations.
Joey Bart was batting .156 on the season with 41 strikeouts to 104 at bats and 24 hits.
Austin Wynns is batting .365 in Triple-A with only 18 strikeouts to 105 at bats and 38 hits.
Curt Casali is batting .244 on the seasons with 27 strikeouts to 78 at bats and 19 hits.
Giants other top catcher, Patrick Bailey is batting 198 in High-A with 31 strikeouts to 111 at bats and only 22 hits.
With all this information we can see why the Giants did what they did with sending down Bart and doing a little trade with the Phillies to get Wynns.
