The Habs have a ton of picks in the draft this year and this draft could really help them get pieces to help them contend in years to come.
1. Noel Gunler
Noel Gunler is a great winger. This year he had a great season in the SHL. He is projected to go in the #10-#16 range. He is a great goal scorer who has great skating capabilities and can be a steal. I think he can be a 1st line forward who puts up 30-40 goals a season. However it would take a miracle for the habs to get him at 16
2. Rodion Amirov
Rodion Amirov is another great winger. This year he bounced around the KHL, the VHL, and the MHL. He is projected to go between #13-#20. He is another natural goal scorer who plays a great 200 foot game and has a great hockey IQ. I think he can a 1st line forward scoring 30-40 goals a year and be a great defensive forward. He provides the shooting talent and goal scoring ability the habs desperately need and would be very valuable to the habs. However I do see a team like the Oilers or the Leafs jumping on him.
3. Lukas Reichel
Lukas Reichel is a fast winger who has soft hands and can score in close. This year he was great in the DEL. He is a wild card for me. I think he should go in the #14-#19 range but there are some people who think he shouldn't even be going in the 1st round. He uses his speed well, he manages the puck well, and he was soft hands and finish ability. I think he can put up 25-35 goals a year while putting up a lot of assists. He provides the finish ability the habs need. I think he can be a 1st line forward and one of the biggest steals in the draft. However I wouldn't be surprised to see the Oilers take him.
4. Jan Mysak
Jan Mysak is a great player who does everything well. This year he split between the Czech league and the OHL and he was great. He is a pure sniper with a deadly shot and he also has great play making abilities. I think he should go in the #15-#22 range but there are some people who think he should go in the very late 1st round. I would be very happy to see the habs take him. He is fast and handles the puck well. I think he can put up 30-40 goals a year. He provides the goal scoring ability the habs need. I think he can be a 1st line forward. However I wouldn't be surprised to see the habs pass up on him.
5. Tyson Foerster
Tyson Foerster is a great player and does a lot well. He was great in the OHL this year. He can put the puck in the net and be a good playmaker. He needs to work on his skating a bit however. He has a great 2 way game. He is projected to go in the early 2nd round. I think the habs could use their picks to trade up a bit and take this guy. I think he could be a solid top 6 guy. If the habs could teach him how to play wing if his skating doesn't come along then he could be good. However I think that another team will get their hands on him before we do.
6. Nico Daws
Nico Daws is a great goalie who is somewhat big and uses that frame well. I think he should go in the 2nd/3rd round and we have them picks in spades. He had a great year considering the fact the Guelph is rebuilding. He plays the puck well and is athletic. He has worked very hard to become a great goalie and I think that there is some good upside in him. Yes obviously we have Primeau but the NHL is starting to become a 2 goalie league and I think daws could be a good 1B goalie who can take on 30-40 starts. I think a Primeau-Daws tendem would be great and could help the habs. However the 2021 draft is stacked in net so I wouldn't be too upset if they don't take him.
7. Jacob Perreault
Jacob Perreault is a fast and deceptive player. He has great hands and can score in a lot of ways. He is projected to go in the #22-#30 range. He has great offensive capabilities and I think he can be a high scoring forward. However he needs to work on his defensive game. I think he could be worth it for the habs. I would love it if the habs traded their frenzy of 2nd rounders to get a 1st and take this guy. He is just so great offensively and could be a 1st line forward that puts up 80+ points a year. However I wouldn't be too surprised if the habs don't take him.
8. Zayde Wisdom
Zayde Wisdom is very underrated. He is super fast, he can play in the dirty areas, he can score, he plays great defense, and he can make plays. I think he can go anywhere from the late 2nd round to the early 4th round. However there are red flags in his game: He doesn't utilise his speed well, he is undersized, and he played with Shane Wright, and he isn't too great on the transition. However he has such a great work ethic and if he can start to utilise his speed well by rushing it into the zone more then I think he can be a solid top 6 forward. However it is a risky pick but I think if he gets good coaching he can be good and I would love to see him in a habs uniform.
9. Antonio Stranges
Antonio Stranges is one of the best puck handling players in the draft. He has such great hands, he is is deceptive, he is fast, he can finish, and is such a great playmaker. He has such great offensive skills and can be a major steal. He is projected to go in the mid 2nd round. He is a major boom or bust kind of guy. He is practically useless in the defensive zone. If he can upgrade his defensive play I think he can be a high scoring forward and a steal. I would love to see the habs pick him. I think he can be a 1st line forward if he can improve is defensive game.
10. Roby Jarventie
Roby Jarventie is a great skater and can score. He has a very good arsenal of shots and is a great playmaker. He has such great offensive capabilities but he needs to work on his defense. He is projected to go in the 3rd round. I think he can be a high scoring 1st line forward but he will need to bulk up and work on his defensive game. I really hope the habs take him because he could be a major steal and he could help the habs contend in years to come. However I have my doubts I am willing to bet the habs would end up taking someone else for some stupid reason.
I think that it would be ideal for the habs to target these guys in the draft and I would call it a win if we get 3 or 4 of these guys.
