The Warriors have been having terrible luck starting in the 2019 playoffs. Klay going down arguably lost them a championship and history could have just repeated itself as Klay went down again this time tearing his Achilles. Today, we will look at 3 things that the Warriors need to do this season to get right back to being in contention for the finals.
3. Unleash the assassin
Steph Curry is arguably the greatest point guard of all time. He will need to play like his MVP season again for the Warriors to have a chance. Last season Steph only played 4 games before he broke his hand and then one game late into the season against the Toronto Raptors. Steph performs at his best in the playoffs but he needs to now play that well for 72 games in order for the Dubs to make the playoffs.
2. Get Draymond back on track
Last season, Draymond Green was terrible. The biggest argument was that he needs stars to help him perform well. Now he has those stars, he needs to take control of the position he is in and sometimes be that primary ball handler when Steph sits. He needs to shoot the ball from 3 more consistently as well. Last season he shot 27% from three which is awful! In the 2015-2016 season, he shot 38% which is a lot better for him and the entire team. Lastly, he needs to control himself from starting fights and yelling at the refs because down the stretch, it starts to hurt the team.
1. Grow James Wiseman
James Wiseman doesn't and won't be a star in his first season. If the Warriors really want to win now, they will develop him really fast. He will be good in the pick in roll game and will hopefully develop a shot from beyond the arc. He only played 3 games in college but he averaged 19.7 PPG, 10.7 RBG, and 3.0 BPG. If these numbers translate to the NBA, the Warriors will win the titles for sure but he needs to prove that drafting him was the right choice.
