Are the Bucs Legit?

Updated: May 25, 2020

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have had one of the most eventful offseasons of 2020. They added possibly the best QB of all time, Tom Brady. Also trading for his favorite target, Rob Gronkowski, who came out of retirement after just 1 year out of the league. They were also busy in the draft, trading up for Iowa OT Tristian Wirfs and drafting ballhawk Free Safety from Minnesota, Antoine Winfield Jr..

Tampa finished 2019 7-9 with turnover prone QB Jameis Winston, who signed with fellow division rival, New Orleans Saints. They are known for their lethal offensive weapons in Chris Godwin, Mike Evans and O.J. Howard.

They have a solid, young defense with star pass rusher Shaq Barrett, who led the NFL in sacks in 2019 with 19.5

Their is a lot of youth in their secondary, Sean Murphy-Bunting looks to improve in his second season along with Justin Evans and Jamel Dean.

The strength of their defense comes in the middle, with star MLB Devin White and veteran linebacker Lavonte David. Their Defensive Line is also a relatively strong unit, young DT Vita Vea has proven to be a viable player up front along with former second overall pick Ndamukong Suh.

Many believe that the chemistry could be a problem for this team due to lack of meetings from the Coronavirus Pandemic. But Tom Brady has been seen at local Tampa Bay high school fields working with his future teammates.

A big question is going to be Hall of Fame TE Rob Gronkowksi production. Look for them to use him in high-leverage situation, he should receive plenty of red-zone targets this season.

Another big question is the teams run game. Ronald Jones seems to be a solid option out of the backfield, but hasn't proven he can be a three-down back. Tampa also added Ke'Shawn Vaughn from Vanderbilt in the 3rd round of this years draft, he can possibly become their lead back with Jones becoming a backup.

Along with many questions and predictions comes hype. Brady and Gronk are back at the top of the jersey sales along with the teams season ticket purchases skyrocketing.

Tom Brady is the winningest quarterback of all time, he did it in New England, the question will be can he give "Tompa Bay" another super bowl championship.
