Atlanta Sports Week In Review July 27-August 2

Atlanta Sports are rolling right now, as the Braves and Atlanta United have some action under their belt, and the Falcons and Georgia Tech are getting set for their seasons. Lets look back at this week in Atlanta sports.

Atlanta Braves

The Braves have now played 10 games in this unusual 2020 season, and I'd say its going really well besides a couple of pitching hiccups. The season got started at Citi Field against the Mets, where the Mets dominated the first 17 innings of the series, but after that it was all Braves. Marcell Ozuna hit a game-tying homerun when down to his last strike and out in the 9th inning. The Braves took advantage of the new extra innings rule, which put a runner at 2nd base to start each extra inning, and scored 3 runs in the 10th to win 5-3. Game 3 was never close, with the Braves winning 14-1! After New York, the Braves went down to Tampa, where they struggled and struck out a lot. They lost both games in Tampa 14-5 and 5-2. We returned to Atlanta and played 2 more with Tampa. We won both 7-4 and 2-1 thanks to Soroka, Fried, and our offense. We entered another series with the Mets at a 4-3 record, and thanks to 3 wins and the Mets bullpen, improved our record to 7-3 as I'm writing this. My #1 concern right now is the backend of the rotation. Newcomb hasn't looked sharp, Folty's spot is wide open, and we have no clue how Wright will pan out across the whole season. Besides that, our team looks like a World Series contender.

Atlanta United

Atlanta United has gotten back from Orlando after going 0-for-3 and firing De Boer. We have hired ATLUTD2 Coach Stephen Glass to be interim manager while we find a new manager. Josef Martinez has been placed on the season-ending injured list as he is recovering from a Torn ACL he suffered in our season opener against Nashville. We struggled real bad in Orlando without Josef, as we were the only team in the tournament not to score a goal. Josef's interim has been signed, as we signed former Houston Dynamo and Tijuana striker Erick Torres. We also have new signing Jurgen Damm, who arrived to Atlanta this week. Even though our attack saw a big power outage in Orlando, I definitely see a offensive resurgence in the making when the regular season resumes on August 22.

Georgia Tech

The ACC announced schedules for the 2020 football season this week(if it even happens). Here is Tech's Home and Away games:

Notre Dame

Boston College

FSU NC State

I think we can win some of these lower end ACC games and we might be a under-the-radar team. Also, former Tech C James Banks has signed with Hapoel Beer Shava in the Israeli Basketball League. He averaged 9 points and 7 rebounds per game last season. Congrats James!

Atlanta Falcons

The Falcons reported to Training Camp at the training facility in Flowery Branch this week. No Falcons have opted out of the season yet, but 6 players have been placed on the Reserve/Covid list. This either means that they tested positive or have been exposed to the virus. S Jamal Carter is the only player that has tested positive for the virus. LB Foye Oloukun and rookie S Jaylinn Hawkins are some notable names that were also placed on the list.

Atlanta Hawks

The only thing that has happened in the last 2 weeks for the Hawks was the unveiling of new uniforms. Here they are below.

What do you guys think about them? Cop or drop?
