The Bulls have finally restructured their management and have hired a new GM in Marc Eversley and a new head of basketball operations Artūras Karnišovas who was formally the general manager of the Denver Nuggets.
They obviously have the same goal as every Chicago sports fan, bring the Bulls back to glory.
The Bulls have a very young team, but some players are very expendable. I have divided the team into four categories, from least likely to most likely to be traded.
Untouchbales: Coby White, Wendell Carter Jr.
Almost untouchables: Zach LaVine, Chandler Hutchinson, Daniel Gafford, Ryan Arcidiacono
Could be traded: Tomas Satoransky, Otto Porter Jr., Denzel Valentine, Shaquille Harrison, Thaddeus Young, Lauri Markkanen, Luke Kornet
Just get him off the team: Cristiano Felicio
There are a couple deals that the Bulls could make to be competitive in the NBA. First, we just need to get rid of Cristiano Felicio. He is awful. He is the worst player in the NBA and a joke to sports fans and players and commentators. Just release him or trade him for something useful like....more popcorn for Benny the Bull or a bucket for the bucket boys. He needs to go.
Once that is finished, Otto Porter Jr. has a massive contract of 29 million. He will only be on the team for one more year because he has a player option and I'm very sure that he will choose to accept that.
But, if the Bulls want to be good this year we need to trade him as well as Lauri Markkanen.
Lauri had a great sophomore season averaging 18 points and 9 rebounds, but this year he just wasn't with it. He only averaged 15 points and 6 rebounds. Although, he was injured some of the year, he did not shoot well at all even when he was perfectly healthy.
I don't see Lauri being an All-star player like I do with Coby White. I think other teams see that Lauri has potential and that potential peak is right now. He is in his prime trading potential.
The Bulls could get a really good deal for those two players if they do it right.
Potential trade: Lauri Markkanen, Otto Porter Jr., and a first round pick for Julius Randle and R.J. Barrett.
This trade might be a little bit of a stretch, but I think the Knicks could do this deal. A Bulls first round pick would most likely be in the top 10 and Markkanen is a player who in the Knicks eyes could become an All-star.
Additionally, Otto Porter Jr. could be a mentor for some of the younger players on that team like Kevin Knox and Dennis Smith Jr.
This would be very beneficial for the Bulls because I think that Julius Randle still has All-star level potential. Being in New York is just not the right environment for him.
People may forget that last year on the Pelicans he averaged 21 points, 9 rebounds, and 3 assists on 52% shooting. That is close to All-star level.
And the Bulls would very like to develop R.J. Barrett next to Coby White and Zach LaVine as a possible back court.
Overall, the Bulls need to make some moves, I have trust the GM's can get the job done and maybe make some trades in the 2020-2021 season.
