Kelly Oubre Jr. was traded to the OKC Thunder in the Chris Paul trade. The Thunder wanted to tank so they shipped him off to Golden State for a protected first-round pick. The Warriors brought in Oubre hoping to take the pain away from losing Klay. The only problem, Oubre has been TRASH. He is so far averaging 10 points but mostly off dunks. He is shooting a career-low of 14% from three! That is unacceptable for a player making 14 million a year. His field goal percentage is at 33% which isn't helping Steph get open at all. The Warriors should give him some more games to show us more of that one game where he hit 4 threes. But, if he continues being this bad, let's look at some possible trades.
Trade target: Buddy Hield
Warriors receive: Buddy Hield, Hassan Whiteside
Kings receive: Kelly Oubre, Kevon Looney, Jordan Poole, 2022 SRP
This trade is interesting for both teams. At first glance, it looks like the Kings are getting robbed but here is why they are not.
Reason why Sacramento does this: The Kings do this to continue to tank and fight for the #1 overall pick. Buddy Hield does not want to stick around on a team that is always losing but he has several years left on his contract. The Kings get rid of his entire 24 million dollars and replace it with a younger Kelly Oubre who is on the last year of his deal. The Kings also get Jordan Poole who is young and has the potential to be a role player. Kevon Looney is a good backup center who can guard the pick and role due to the way he moves. He can stay with smaller defenders which helps the team out when switching.
Reason why Golden State does this: The Dubs do this to get an elite shooter back in return for a player who has not worked out. Buddy has averaged 15 ppg this season shooting 34% from three which will only increase. He will open up the floor for Steph a ton more as well. The Warriors are losing perimeter D but Andrew Wiggins has proven he can take that role with Draymond and Wiseman down low. Hassan Whiteside also will come into the backup center role as Golden State ships out Kevon Looney. This trade also means that the Warriors give more minutes to James Wiseman which will only make him learn faster.
