People are Quick to blame the veteran Quarter back for the struggles of the 2020 Vikings. The Vikings have severely underperformed in 2020 having a record just at .500 at 6-6. Kirk‘a stats aren’t the best, with just over 3,000 yards, 27 TDs to 12 int, but he’s definitely not the reason for the Vikings struggles.
before we talk about what the real problem of the Vikings is, let’s take a look at the GOOD from Kirk Cousins this year. Going into the bye week, Kirk had
1,475 yards and 11 TDs to 10 Int, since then he’s had 1,596 yards and 12 TDs to 2 Int, obviously a big improvement
Now, we get into the problem with the Vikings
The Vikings are a Very interesting team, they have multiple problems but it’s one big one that seems to be holding them back. The problem is the pass rush. Since the absence of the Danielle Hunter, the Vikings have not been able to get after the QB. In the Offseason, the Vikings traded for star DE Yannick Ngouke, he was very productive for Minnesota, racking up 5 sacks and 2 FFs, before the vikings shipped him off to Baltimore For a 3rd and 5th round pick. After this, the Vikings where left with Veteran Ifaedi Odenigbo, who had a monster season in 2019 racking up 8 sacks in a reduced role, this season he only has 2.5 sacks. On the other side, Vikings have Rookie Dj Wonnum, the Vikings 5th round pick in 2020, Dj had been great, with 3.5 sacks as a rookie, leading the team.
The Vikings will get Super Star DE Daneille Hunter back in 2021, alone with DT Michael Pierce, whom they signed in FA and he opted out. They Will also get LB Anthony Barr back. The Vikings front 7 will be much improved in 2021, and will look to get back to 2019 form and contend for a title!
