Aston Villa will host Manchester United on July 9th at Villa Park in what is expected to be a decisive victory for Manchester United. United hopes to keep pace with Leicester and Chelsea and keep their Champions League hopes alive while Villa hopes to catch Watford and avoid relegation.
This match may seem like it will be a blow out by United and it probably will. Manchester United have been one of the hottest teams in the Premier League since the restart. They have not lost since January 22nd and have won four out of five games since the restart (only drawing to Tottenham). Except for a poor game at Norwich, United have been dominating the weaker opponents. They have scored 13 goals in their last 4 games and show no signs of stopping now. A win for United would put them one point behind Leicester and two points behind Chelsea.
Aston Villa, on the other hand, have shown little to no signs of life since the restart. They have drawn twice and lost three times, scoring a total of two goals in those matches. This game, should Villa lose, will be a big hit to their chances to avoid relegation. Villa needs at least a draw against United. This would put them only 3 points behind Watford.
This is a very easy match to predict. Manchester United will win easily, outpossesing Villa and stifling any counter-attacks. The constant pressure will break Villa’s defense and lead to a trio of goals from United. I predict two goals from Marcus Rashford and one from Mason Greenwood.
Manchester United 3-0 Aston Villa
