In the NFL no two teams are the same. That’s why power rankings are so important, so people can know which teams are better then others. Yesterday I posted my first half of the power rankings and today I’m posting 15-1.
15. Philadelphia Eagles
This team is the same as last year, the entire team is injured but let’s be honest Carson Wentz is going to find a way to carry this team to the playoffs like last year. Rookie receiver Jalen Regor showed why he’s the team’s primary wide receiver. Darius Slay and the defense really disappointed me because they couldn’t stop Washington’s below average offense.
14. Buffalo Bills
I know you might think this is really low, in fact a lot of people have them ranked in the top 10, but if you’re familiar with my articles you know that I despise the Bills. I think they are very overrated. They don’t have a very good offense, and their defense is great but not good enough to carry them to the playoffs. Their game on Sunday just proved me right, on paper it looks like they just destroyed the Jets (the worst team in the league), but if you watched the game you would understand that the Bills played horribly. Josh Allen was inaccurate and their running game was horrible (other then Josh Allen). The team is still above average but they will most likely miss the playoffs due to Josh Allen’s inaccuracy. I highly doubt this team will prove me wrong.
13. Minnesota Vikings
Although they got destroyed by the Packers, the Vikings are still a superb team. They will lose to any team with a top tier receiver due to their cornerbacks, but the rest of the defense is amazing with players such as, Anthony Harris, Eric Kendricks, Harrison Smith, Yannick Ngakoue, and Anthony Barr. The offense isn’t something to scoff at either, the trio of Kirk Cousins, Adam Thielen, and Dalvin Cook will take the league by storm. The team will only get better as rookies like Justin Jefferson develop.
12. Tampa Bay Buccaneers
This team will get the hang of it trust me. I’m not going to act like they played well on Sunday but I will say one thing. Brady isn’t done yet. He still needs to adjust to a scheme that is very difficult from his old one. He has too many weapons to do bad this year. I think he will throw a lot of interceptions but balance that out by throwing for a lot of yards. The defense is also great despite playing poorly on sunday. Like I said Brady isn’t done yet.
11. Dallas Cowboys
The Cowboys are a spectacular team. Dak, Zeke, Lamb, Gallup, and Cooper are going to be incredible once they adjust to Mike McCarthy’s scheme which is very different from Jason Garrett’s run heavy scheme that Dak is used to. The defense has a elite front 7 especially with Alshon Smith who played very well against the Rams on sunday. The injury to Leighton Vander-Esch definitely holds the team back but I believe Joe Thomas will fill his role very well. This team is loaded and will get more and more threatening as the players develop.
10. Los Angeles Rams
This team played like they did in the 2018 season. Malcolm Brown is a surprisingly good running back. Jared Goff and his multiple weapons will score a lot of points this season if Sean McVay can coach the offense as well as he did in 2018. The defense also did great, led by the two defensive stars Aaron Donald and Jalen Ramsey.
9. Pittsburgh Steelers
This defense has solidified it’s self as the best in the league. I know it’s only week 1, but they had a incredible 2019 season and they opened up the 2020 season by only allowing Saquon Barkley, one of the NFL’s best running backs to get only 6 rushing yards. I would’ve liked to see more from this offense but considering it’s Big Ben’s first game back I’ll settle for what I’ve seen.
8. Tennessee Titans
Derrick Henry is a beast. Ryan Tannehill and A.J. Brown are good and all but the heart and soul of this team is absolutely Derrick Henry. He can run through defenders and he’s nearly impossible to bring down. The Titans’ defense is also amazing, players like Kevin Byard and newcomer, Jadeveon Clowney, dominate opposing offenses.
7. New England Patriots
I knew the dynasty wasn’t over. The dynasty won’t end until Bill Belichick leaves. Cam Newton is doing incredible and Josh McDaniels calls plays that take advantage of his athleticism. Even without all the players that opted out the defense is still spectacular. They have by far the best secondary in the league and their front 7 may not be amazing but it’s good enough for the secondary to win them games.
6. Green Bay Packers
My biggest problem with Aaron Rodgers over the past 3 years has been how conservative with the ball he became. It seems like the threat of Jordan Love taking his job is making him have a reason to take shots downfield again. Devante Adams played like an elite receiver and Aaron Jones is as good as ever. The defense isn’t doing to poorly either, Kenny Clark and Jaire Alexander are great defenders that make it much harder to score.
5. San Francisco 49ers
This team is extremely injury ridden. All of Jimmy Garoppolo’s weapons got injured including George Kittle. The offense is going to struggle a lot, but I do think Mohammad Sanu is a perfect receiver for Kyle Shanahan. On the defensive side of the ball the team is great although they lost their star corner Richard Sherman. This team made it to the super bowl last year and if they weren’t so banged up I would have them in the top 3.
4. New Orleans Saints
Micheal Thomas is gone and he may not be back for a while, but the team is still great. Drew Brees still has Emmanuel Sanders, Alvin Kamara, and Jared Cook to throw the ball to. They have one of the best offensive lines in the league and a coach that loves the game. They have a great defense with many stars such as Cameron Jordan, Demario Davis, and Marshon Lattimore.
3. Seattle Seahawks
Pete Carroll is finally giving Russell Wilson the opportunities he deserves. I mean I don’t see why he wouldn’t. Russell Wilson is the best quarterback in the league and he has amazing wide receivers. This might be a changing point in Pete Carroll’s offense. The defense played really well for the first half but they started to struggle in the 4th quarter.
2. Baltimore Ravens
The Ravens wiped the floor with the Browns. Their defense looked flawless especially with the addition of rookie runningback J.K. Dobbins. Lamar Jackson looks even better then last year which shouldn’t surprise anyone. With the addition of Patrick Queen this defense will be dominant. It is very clear this team is going for a Lombardi Trophy this year.
1. Kansas City Chiefs
The super bowl champions only got better. It’s no secret that Patrick Mahomes is great but the addition of Clyde Edwards-Helaire makes this offense very good in the running game along with the passing game. The defense isn’t elite but it’s good enough for their offense to win them games. I would not be surprised if this team wins another super bowl this year.
