The NFL has a salary cap that prevents some teams from being too much better then other teams but it’s very clear that some teams spend that cap space more wisely then others, causing them to be a better team. Teams like the Chiefs and Seahawks will be better the a team like the Jets because they know what players to spend money on and how much money they should be paid. This is why it’s so important for people to rank these teams based off their roster and how well coached the team is.
16 Indianapolis Colts
This is the worst Philip Rivers has played in his career. Johnathan Taylor and TY Hilton are great but the quarterback is the most important part of a offense. The defense absolutely shut down the Vikings’ offense and I expect them to have many performances just like that one.
15 San Francisco 49ers
This team has a lot of injuries. Practically their entire defensive line is injured. Also Jimmy Garoppolo, Deebo Samuel, Raheem Mostert, and George Kittle are injured, this makes the offense much worse. I still believe players like Mohammad Sanu and Jordan Reed can make this team contenders with some incredible coaching from Kyle Shanahan.
14 Buffalo Bills
Let me start by saying my opinion hasn’t changed. This team is still the same, with an inaccurate quarterback, no pass rush, and a mediocre at best running game. Yes this team has a good secondary but that isn’t enough to make the team great. They may be undefeated but the only two teams they played against were the Dolphins and Jets (2 of the worst teams in the league). I feel like I need to see them play well against the Rams before I take back what I said about them this offseason.
13 Dallas Cowboys
The Cowboys should be 0-2 right now. They lucked out late in that game and I consider the Falcons the better team, but I believe that the Cowboys will start to light up the league once Dak and the offense adjust to Mike McCarthy’s scheme. They have a elite receiving core including players like Amari Cooper, Micheal Gallup, and Ceedee Lamb. I cannot mention this team without talking about their star running back, Ezekiel Elliott, who still runs through defenses. The defense
12 Arizona Cardinals
Deandre Hopkins is really leaving his mark on the Cardinals’ offense, he clearly has great chemistry with Kyler Murray, who is having a superb sophomore season. Chandler Jones and the defense took a large step up from last year and they are dominating opposing defenses with players such as Budda Baker, Chandler Jones and Isaiah Simmons. I believe that Kliff Kingsbury makes this team a playoff contender with his pass-oriented offense.
11 Las Vegas Raiders
The Raiders’ have proved that their offense is no joke, scoring 68 points so far this season. Derek Carr is looking like a elite quarterback, Josh Jacobs has been amazing this year, Henry Ruggs may be a rookie but he is still having a large impact on the team, and Darren Waller is solidifying himself as a top tight end in the NFL. I still think that the defense is horrible, they could only stop the Saints when they made huge mistakes that were easy to capitalize on. The offense might be good enough to make up for the defense’s mistakes, if that’s the case I expect a playoff birth from this team.
10 Tampa Bay Buccaneers
The Buccaneers may not be living up to the hype right now but we just need to give them time. It seems like they finally realized that Leonard Fournette is the better running back and, now we just need to wait for Brady to adjust to Bruce Arians offense. The defense seems like the highlight of the team,Lavonte David and the defense are revealing that this defense is the one of the best in the league.
9 Los Angeles Rams
Sean McVay is a offensive mastermind who doesn’t need Todd Gurley to keep the defense afloat. Jared Goff is connecting his passes with Robert Woods, Cooper Kupp, and Tyler Higbee very well. The defensive line is spectacular and gives opposing quarterbacks no time in the pocket. As long as the team has Jalen Ramsey I expect the team’s pass defense to be above average. Sean McVay will most likely lead this team to the playoffs.
8 Pittsburgh Steelers
I understand the hype around this team but I don’t really like what I saw against the Broncos. The Broncos didn’t have their primary receiver and starting quarterback, yet they still allowed 21 points. I’m hoping that this was just a bad game because the Steelers would’ve lost if the Broncos were healthy. The offense is playing well but Juju still hasn’t proved he’s a wr1.
7 Tennessee Titans
If anyone believes that smash mouth offenses are outdated show them this team and they will change their mind. Derrick Henry is a monster that dismantles any opposing defense and Ryan Tannehill is a game manager that doesn’t turn the ball over. The defense went from one of the least scary pass rushes to one of the best with the addition of pass rushers Jadeveon Clowney and Vic Beasley. I believe Mike Vrable can take this team to the super bowl this year.
6 New Orleans Saints
A lot of other people had the Saints falling very far in the rankings, unlike other people I won’t base all my rankings off one game. Drew Brees will probably struggle with Michael Thomas gone but I feel like Emmanuel Sanders is good enough to temporarily fill his role. The defense is phenomenal, they have a top tier linebacker, Demario Davis, cornerback, Marshon Lattimore, and edge rusher, Cameron Jordan. It’s hard to rank a team with this much talent any lower.
5 Green bay Packers
Aaron Rodgers is playing like a elite quarterback again, he’s no longer refusing to throw the ball deep again, if he keeps playing like this he will most likely be a contender for MVP. Devante Adams is one of the league’s best route runners and Aaron Jones is a runningback with a nose for the end zone. The defense is still a problem but if the offense keeps playing like they have been this season, they will win any shootout they get into.
4 New England Patriots
I knew the dynasty wasn’t over, it’s not going to be over until Belichick retires. Cam Newton is playing like he did in 2015, the offense may not have a lot of weapons but Cam Newton is really the only weapon the team needs. The defense may not have a great line and linebacker core but the secondary is by far the best in the league. Their biggest strength is their coaching staff, Josh McDaniels is a coach that can think of a offensive scheme for any player. They also have Bill Belichick, the best coach of all time.
3 Seattle Seahawks
It’s about time that they give Russell Wilson the work load he deserves. Why wouldn’t they? They have Tyler Lockett and DK Metcalf, two amazing receivers. Even though they are passing the ball more this year they still have a great running game led by Chris Carson. The defense is starting to look spectacular with Bobby Wagner and Jamal Adams, running the ball is going to be really hard.
2 Kansas City Chiefs
This team has very few flaws. The offensive line is great, the wide receivers are impossible to cover, Patrick Mahomes is a generational talent, Travis Kelce is a elite tight end, Clyde Edwards-Helaire is a superb young runningback, Andy Reid is a genius, the defensive line gives opposing quarterbacks no time in the pocket, and Tyrann Mathieu is a high caliber safety. So why isn’t the team at one? Well the team above the Chiefs not only has a equally good roster but they haven’t even came close to losing, meanwhile the Chiefs almost lost to the Chargers.
1 Baltimore Ravens
The Ravens don’t need a introduction. They have a spectacular offense mainly based around running the ball with any of their multiple athletic ball carriers Jk Dobbins, Gus Edwards, Mark Ingram, Patrick Ricard, and Lamar Jackson. The defense is spectacular. It has so many stars such as Marlon Humphrey, Marcus Peters, Calais Campbell, and many others. John Harbaugh is still a great coach that is aiming for a super bowl this year.
