Rudy Gobert was the first NBA player to get the coronavirus. Although it was inevitable for the NBA to shut down, it was shut down as an immediate result of Rudy Gobert and his teammates getting the virus.
First time All-Star and leading scorer on the Jazz (24.2 points per game) Donovan Mitchell who also obtained the virus said that he was "extremely frustrated" with Gobert.
Gobert was naive, and did not take the coronavirus seriously. Gobert was seen carelessly touching other players and their belongings.
The most infamous thing that Gobert did was during an interview. During an intreview Gobert was seen touching all the media microphones as a joke. The video clip of him doing this has over one million views on youtube.
Many articles and sports analysts have claimed that Gobert is an idiot and a moron for taking the virus like a joke.
Gobert ignored several warnings about the coronavirus and it has come back to bite him.
This is why Donovan Mitchell is so mad.
If Gobert would have listened to the protocols and safety warnings perhaps he would have a brighter future with the Jazz.
Because of this feud the Jazz may have to choose between the two time Defensive Player of the Year, Rudy Gobert and reigning All-Star, Donovan Mitchell.
If the Jazz do have to choose between the two, I think that the clear decision is to choose Donovan Mitchell. Mitchell, entering his fourth season in the NBA, has improved his stats every year since his rookie of the year.
Based off his current improvements, I think it is very possible that Mitchell could average 25 points, 5 assists, and 5 rebounds per game. Those are no doubt All-Star numbers.
The Jazz want to be contenders in a competitive Western Conference.
If the Jazz do trade Gobert, it would be in their best interest to receive a valuable wing player as well as an up and coming center.
One trade they could make is with the Los Angeles Lakers. They could trade Rudy Gobert and Royce O'Neale for Dwight Howard, Danny Green and a first round draft pick. This would be beneficial for the Jazz because Danny Green is one of the best shooters in the NBA and Dwight Howard is a defensive force who could replace Rudy Gobert.
Another trade the Jazz could make is with the Memphis Grizzles. They could get Dillon Brooks, Jonas Valanciunas, and a first round draft pick as well. Dillon Brooks can play the small forward because he is six feet, seven inches tall, and Jonas Valanciunas is an underrated center who is averaging a double-double (15 points per game and 12 rebounds per game). Both Valanciunas and Brooks are younger than 28 and can make a difference on the Jazz.
Hopefully for the Jazz Mitchell and Gobert's relationship can be repaired. If not it is very possible that Gobert will be traded.
