An odd start to the week as the Seattle Seahawks stadium formally known as CenturyLink Stadium is now called Luman Stadium. Key players went down with season-ending injuries and long-term injuries. Pittsburgh stays undefeated as well as puts a rookie in the record books. Check out the Week 11 takeaways below.
Week 11 Byes: San Fransisco 49ers, Chicago Bears, Buffalo Bills, and New York Giants
Arizona Cardinals(6-4) AT Seattle Seahawks(7-3)
DeAndre Hopkins was a non-factor
Seattle's running game
First place in the NFC West was on the line Thursday night at newly named Luman Stadium, Seattle came away with a 28-21 victory.
DeAndre Hopkins was only targeted eight times and caught five of those passes for 51 yards. Kyler threw bad passes towards him after injuring his throwing shoulder in the first quarter. Arizona struggled late and did not target the guy who caught a hail mary to win the game in Week 10. DeAndre needs to be a primary target and contributor to the offense if Arizona wants to win, like AJ Brown.
Next Game: AT Patriots Sun, 11/29/20 9:00 am
Seattle found their running game again, but it did rack up offensive line and other injuries. The Seattle rushing attack accumulated 164 of the 346 total offensive yards that belonged to the Seahawks. Carlos Hyde led the pack with 14 carries for 79 yards and a score, Bo Scarbrough ran hard and got 31 yards on six carries but did the splits while getting tackled and injured a hamstring. Seattle faces a tough run defense next week and hopes to get Chris Carson and Travis Homer back with Rashaad Penny nearing a return from IR.
Next Game: AT Eagles Mon, 11/30/20 4:15 pm
Tennessee Titans(7-3) AT Baltimore Ravens(6-4)
Titans get AJ Brown involved and win
Ravens OC needs better play calling
The Titans took the Ravens into overtime and outlasted them 30-24 with Derrick Henry.
In a AFC Divisional rematch the Titans got AJ Brown involved on late drives and look what the outcome was. Brown caught four passes for 62 yards and a touchdown, which he dragged multiple defenders into the end zone. AJ was a target throughout the final drives which set up key Derrick Henry runs. Tennessee improves their playoff odds and decreases Baltimore's chances of winning the AFC North and a Wild Card spot.
Next Game: AT Colts Sun, 11/29/20 9:00 am
When Baltimore hired Greg Roman to be their offensive coordinator, they thought he would bring a new style of play calling. Greg Roman calls the same basic plays, Lamar run, throw to Mark Andrews, run the ball, check down to a receiver, and the occasional deep ball. Teams have figured out the intentions and how Jackson thinks. Roman needs new play calls or just needs to be told he will be fired if their offense does not smoke out opponents like the 2019 Ravens. Baltimore plays on Thanksgiving against a division rival.
Next Game: AT Pittsburgh Thu, 11/26/20 4:20 pm
Detroit Lions(4-6) AT Carolina Panthers(4-7)
Hockenson is alone without Golladay
Panthers defense prevails
Carolina shuts out the Detroit Lions 20-0 and P.J. Walker has himself a great day.
T.J. Hockenson has been a top target since Kenny Golladay has been sidelined. Marvin Jones does have his games but Hockenson has been the most consistent target. He caught four passes for 68 yards. Detroit also gives Matthew no time in the pocket so his tight end is the quickest dump off choice.
Next Game: VS Texans Thu, 11/26/20 8:30 am
Carolina's defense performed way above expectations. A shutout and only allowing 185 total yards, 178 of those yards belonged to Stafford passing. Panthers sacked Matthew five times, recovered one fumble, and scored a touchdown. The Panthers defense kept on the weak Lions' o-line and made life difficult for Detroit. A notable player was Brain Burns for his two sacks and two tackles along with three assists.
Next Game: AT Vikings Sun, 11/29/20 9:00 am
Pittsburgh Steelers(10-0) AT Jacksonville Jaguars(1-9)
Steelers get run game and Diontae going
James Robinson has a future in the NFL
Pittsburgh finally rolls over a team that should be easy to beat by a score of 27-3.
Pittsburgh rallied behind a strong defensive stop on Jacksonville's third possession by scoring 27 unanswered points. The Steelers offense finally put together a good rushing performance with James Conner as he gained 89 yards on 13 carries, overall rushing stats for the team totaled to 28 carries for 105 yards and a touchdown. Diontae Johnson had back-to-back games with 10+ receptions and 100+ yards receiving. If the Steelers want to make a deep playoff run, the run game needs to be consistent and Johnson needs to continue to make tough catches and be a trustworthy target for Roethlisberger.
Next Game: VS Baltimore Thu, 11/26/20 4:20 pm
James Robinson has surpassed 1000+ yards from scrimmage in his first year in the NFL. Robinson ran tough against the Steelers and hurdled and tru led his way to 73 yards on the ground as well as 21 yards through the air. This is the type of player you love to see in the NFL and on your team, he was hard to bring down and played majority of the snaps. James has 762 total yards on the ground through nine games, he also has seven total touchdowns. Robinson will remain the number one back on the depth chart and should face a position battle in the upcoming offseason.
Next Game: VS Browns Sun, 11/29/20 9:00 am
Philadelphia Eagles(3-6-1) AT Cleveland Browns(7-3)
Eagles turnover woes continue
Browns run game more dangerous then it seems
In another sloppy weather game in Cleveland, the Browns ran away with the victory 22-17.
The turnovers don't stop flowing for Philadelphia, two interceptions and a fumble makes three turnovers in one game, the Eagles are ranked 30th in the league for giveaways per game with a average of 1.9 per game. Carson Wentz has fourteen interceptions this season and Philly throws an INT in nearly every game. The 3-6-1 Eagles lead the NFC East and remain the fourth seed in the NFC playoff picture.
Next Game: VS Seattle Mon, 11/30/20 4:15 pm
Once again the Browns run away with a win and in bad weather conditions as well. Nick Chubb missed a little bit of the game due to losing his contact lenses, which meant Kareem Hunt had to fill in. Although Hunt only totaled eleven yards on thirteen carries, he scored a touchdown while hurdling a player and getting around others. Chubb had 114 yards on 20 carries and put the game away with continuous first downs. With a duo like this, the passing game can explode at anytime and the playoffs aren't out of reach for Cleveland.
Next Game: AT Jaguars Sun, 11/29/20 9:00 am
New England Patriots(4-6) AT Houston Texans(3-7)
No solution for Deshaun Watson
Houston's defense stepped up against the run
Houston upsets a New England team in rhythm by outscoring them 27-20.
The Patriots defense had no answer for Deshaun Watson during Sunday's matchup. Watson threw for 344 yards and two touchdowns while running for 36 yards and a single score. New England did not sack Deshaun and got little pressure on the former Clemson quarterback. Deshaun is the only source of positive offense Houston has.
Next Game: VS Arizona Sun, 11/29/20 9:00 am
The Texans defense held an explosive player in Damien Harris to only 43 yards and a touchdown. The standout player on defense was safety Justin Reid, Reid had seven tackles, two assists and a sack. The defense played up to the task and held off New England just enough to clinch a win.
Next Game: AT Lions Thu, 11/26/20 8:30 am
Atlanta Falcons(3-7) AT New Orleans Saints(8-2)
Calvin Ridley disappeared after the half
Taysom Hill can throw
Without Drew Brees, New Orleans gets a boost to a 24-9 victory from Taysom Hill and company.
In the Mercedes-Benz Superdome on Sunday, Calvin Ridley caught five passes that totaled 90 yards and looked to easily surpass 100 yards and maybe even score a touchdown. Calvin caught just one pass for 18 yards with 59 seconds left in the ballgame. Matt Ryan tends to go away from Ridley in the second half of games a lot, the run never got going and that was also a big part of the loss. When he is not consistently targeted the offense stalls, it was a turnover prone and a three&out type of game for Atlanta.
Next Game: VS Raiders Sun, 11/29/20 9:00 am
The starting job was up in the air between Jamis Winston and Taysom Hill, New Orleans obviously felt more comfortable with the utility player. When Taysom is on the field, it's to catch the ball more often than throw the ball. Hill threw the ball 23 times and completed 18 passes for 233 yards and ran for 51 yards and two scores. The Saints offense looked to benefit while having a shifty and mobile play caller behind center. Thanks to Taysom Hill, New Orleans averaged 6.1 yards per play, is the 30-year old the temporary replacement for Drew Brees once retired?
Next Game: AT Broncos Sun, 11/29/20 12:05 pm
Cincinnati Bengals(2-7-1) AT Washington Football Team(3-7)
Joe Burrow and Cincinnati set sights on next year
Washington holds on to a crumbling NFC East
Joe Burrow sadly ends his rookie year in Cincinnati's 20-9 loss on Sunday morning.
What I learned from this game is that there is no backup plan, the offensive line is terrible and the Bengals will once again pick inside the top ten. The organization should start looking into drafting an offensive lineman to keep things like this from happening to the franchise quarterback. Burrow tweeted out that he is looking forward to next year and he will the remainder of 2020. Ryan Finely, who started three games for Cincy last year will be taking over for the rest of the season.
Next Game: VS Giants Sun, 11/29/20 9:00 am
Washington and Dallas came closer to a division lead this past weekend due to a Philadelphia loss. Washington has played much better recently and it might be time we consider the idea of seeing them in the playoffs. For me, the division is between Dallas and the Football Team, they have scored 20+ points in the past four games and are 2-2 in that span. In a three-way tie for second place, the Football Team continues a Thanksgiving tradition on Thursday and if they win they will take control of the NFC East.
Next Game: AT Dallas Thu, 11/26/20 12:30 pm
New York Jets(0-10) AT Los Angeles Chargers(3-7)
Jets should roll with Flacco for remainder of 2020
Herbert continues strong case for OROY
Herbert breaks a rookie record and the team's three game losing streak, Chargers finally win 34-28.
Joe Flacco has earned the starting role for the rest of the season, New York is probably moving on from former third overall pick Sam Darnold anyways. Flacco threw 262 against New England and now 205 against the Chargers, both with 2 or more touchdowns and an interception. The Jets have nothing to lose and should keep Darnold healthy if there are any potential trade partners for the quarterback.
Next Game: VS Dolphins Sun, 11/29/20 9:00 am
Justin Herbert and Keenan Allen led Los Angeles to victory by a thin margin. Herbert sets records of his own with five three-touchdown games seven straight two-touchdown games. Justin finished with 366 yards passing on 37 completions and three touchdowns. Despite not winning past games, Herbert wins the stat line, something that is impressive as a rookie. If he can keep having these games, he will win OROY for sure.
Next Game: AT Buffalo Sun, 11/29/20 9:00 am
Miami Dolphins(6-4) AT Denver Broncos(4-6)
Tua time put on hold
Melvin Gordon is becoming the number one back
Tua gets benched and Melvin Gordon runs wild in a 20-13 Denver win.
In the crisp afternoon air of Denver, Colorado, Ryan Fitzpatrick replaced Tua because of his lackluster performance. Tagovailoa was 11/20 for 83 yards and a touchdown until the fourth quarter, he was also sacked six times. Head coach Brian Flores told reports that Tua will remain the starter, this was a NFL reality check for the young rookie.
Next Game: AT Jets Sun, 11/29/20 9:00 am
Melvin Gordon has been finding his former Charger self lately, and it came out a little stronger on a Sunday afternoon. Gordon dashed for 84 yards and two touchdowns on 15 carries. This was his best game since week four against the Jets when he had 107 yards and two touchdowns. Gordon has been outperforming Lindsay for weeks now and is looking like the new number one in Denver.
Next Game: VS Saints Sun, 11/29/20 12:05 pm
Green Bay Packers(7-3) AT Indianapolis Colts(7-3)
Green Bay's defense and defensive play calling needs work
Jonathan Taylor finally breaking out
Another overtime game ends in a 34-31 Indianapolis win.
Another defensive collapse by Green Bay leaves more people then just Packer fans and analysts in question of defensive coordinator Mike Pettine's capability of coaching. Up 28-14 at halftime it seemed like Green Bay had this game put away, then came the turnovers which led to poor defensive play. Jaire Alexander was back but Indianapolis just threw his way and he didn't do anything about it. A single sack was registered against Philip Rivers.
Next Game: VS Bears Sun, 11/29/20 4:20 pm
Jonathan Taylor had his best game aside from week two, he rushed for 90 yards on 22 carries. Taylor picked up key yardage and kept the ball out of Aaron Rodgers's hands. Taylor broke tackles and caught four passes for 24 yards. Not much else to say besides the rookie showcased great vision and elusiveness.
Next Game: VS Tennessee Sun, 11/29/20 9:00 am
Dallas Cowboys(3-7) AT Minnesota Vikings(4-6)
Andy Dalton is needs for Dallas to win
Cousins comes up short once more
A heartbreaking loss for Kirk Cousins and Minnesota ends in a 31-28 score.
His first game back from COVID went well, Dalton missed only ten passes and threw for 203 yards and three touchdowns as well as an interception. Dallas seems to do well when Andy is behind center and that is understandable. In his two missed games the Cowboys scored nine and nineteen points, with Dalton now they have scored 31. Dallas continues their Thanksgiving tradition and they look for revenge against Washington.
Next Game: VS Washington Thu, 11/26/20 12:30 pm
Time and time again Kirk Cousins has fallen short of an important win, either on prime-time or just a day game, he performs well but doesn't have the ability to clutch games out. Kirk threw 314 yards on 22 completions for three touchdowns. The secondary is what causes some of this, multiple rookies starting isn't ideal for any team. Cousins's Vikings won't reach the playoffs and he may not even be a Viking for long.
Next Game: VS Carolina Sun, 11/29/20 9:00 am
Kansas City Chiefs(9-1) AT Las Vegas Raiders(6-4)
Mahomes carries Chiefs
Vegas stopped running Jacobs and lost
Patrick Mahomes performs last minute miracle to get revenge on division foe 35-31 on Sunday night.
Patrick Mahomes shinned once again on primetime TV, the X-factor carried Kansas City with 348 yards and two touchdowns. He did have an interception which is his second of the year, his first was week five against the Raiders. Patrick left the pocket and did his usually Mahomes throws to get the ball where it needed to go. He extended plays and eventually found a wide open Travis Kelce for the game winning score. Is it even a surprise at this point that he does this stuff?
Next Game: AT Tampa Bay Sun, 11/29/20 12:25 pm
Josh Jacobs was working for Las Vegas, halfway through the first half they stopped giving the ball to him and gave it to Devontae Booker and other players. Jacobs is their playmaker on the offense, he tallied 55 yards and a touchdown on 17 carries and nine yards on one catch. The run game never took off and neither did Josh.
Next Game: AT Falcons Sun, 11/29/20 9:00 am
Los Angeles Rams(7-3) AT Tampa Bay Buccaneers(7-4)
Rams don't need a running game
Brady can't connect with AB
Rams only have 37 rush yards in a 27-24 Monday night win.
The L.A. Rams rushed 20 times and got 37 yards, while Goff threw for 376 yards and three touchdowns along with two interceptions, he was 25 yards away from breaking the MNF passing yards record set by Ken Anderson in 1982 with 400 passing yards. Cooper Kupp had over 100 yards in the first half and Robert Woods was the go-to guy in the second half with 130 yards and a score, Kupp ended with 145 yards. L.A. might be able to get through the playoffs without a rushing attack but it will be extremely difficult.
Next Game: VS 49ers Sun, 11/29/20 12:05 pm
Antonio Brown has 18 catches for 157 yards in three games, but Tom has not been able to hit him deep. AB has caught short and medium passes but no long balls like he did in Pittsburgh, is it because Ben took more risks due to Brown's level of talent or is it because Brady has an amazingly high football IQ and finds better options? Antonio is involved and seems to be happy, he is an early target for Brady than sees targets every so often for the rest of the game.
Next Game: VS Chiefs Sun, 11/29/20 12:25 pm
Week 12 Byes: NONE
