Week 5 Game Takeaways

A game played on Tuesday and another head coach/general manager duo fired. A superstar not happy with his current team. The Dolphins beat who? Which rookie receiver recorded four touchdowns? Read below to find out!

Week 5 Byes: Green Bay Packers, Detroit Lions, New England Patriots, and Denver Broncos

Tampa Bay Buccaneers(3-2) AT Chicago Bears(4-1)

Tom Brady looks comfortable

Bears defense steps up big

Chicago comes from behind late and stuns Tampa Bay 20-19 on Thursday Night.

Tom Brady looked comfortable today. He didn't throw an interception, his second game of the season without one. He went 25/41 and threw 253 yards and only one touchdown. The Tampa Bay offensive line is a big part of that. Brady spent a good chunk of the game untouched, and enjoyed it. He also found rhythm with receivers and some RBs. Mike Evans and Tyler Johnson seemed to be Tommy's favorite targets today, he targeted him 6 times and Johnson caught 4 passes for 61 yards. Brady jus had a good day throwing and even though they lost, he has things to be happy about.

Next Game: VS Packers Sun,10/18/20 12:25pm

Chicago's defense stepped up big on the last drive, no penalties or big plays let up. The defense sacked Tom 3 times, but kept some pressure on him. Roquan Smith had a big day with 6 tackles, he is showing so far this season that he can be who the Bears picked in 2018. Kyle Fuller had a good day as well, he forced a fumble and finished with 6 tackles, he was a lockdown tonight. Chicago has a tough task next week and will need all 10 of these days to prepare and rest up.

Next Game: AT Carolina Sun,10/18/20 9:00am

Philadelphia Eagles(1-3-1) AT Pittsburgh Steelers(4-0)

Eagles offensive line looked good

Chase Claypool...that's all

The Eagles could not complete the comeback as they lose to the Steelers 38-29.

Lane Johnson was carted off the sidelines once again during this Week 5 matchup. The poorly rostered offensive line only held Pittsburgh to 5 sacks and not many more pressures. Although the good play from them, Wentz still played poorly. Also, it's noteworthy to add Travis Fulgham played outstanding today.

Next Game: VS Ravens Sun,10/18/20 9:00am

Chase Claypool set a franchise rookie record with 4 touchdowns in one game, he had 3 receiving and 1 rushing. Claypool had 7 receptions for 110 yards as well. Chase also came up clutch on a few 3rd down catches that allowed the drives to continue. Claypool has been good up until today when he was amazing. Chase Claypool has Ben's trust and their connection is alive.

Next Game: VS Cleveland Sun,10/18/20 9:00am

Carolina Panthers(3-2) AT Atlanta Falcons(0-5)

Teddy B is in stride

Dan Quinn and Thomas Dimitroff get fired

Teddy Bridgewater lit up the Atlanta defense and outscored the Falcons 23-16.

Bridgewater threw 313 yards and 2 scores, along with only tossing 10 incompletions. Teddy has been throwing the deep ball very well this season, he threw it again on a 57-yard touchdown to D.J. Moore. Next week will be tough for the entire Panthers' offense. It will be a big test for Bridgewater.

Next Game: VS Bears Sun,10/18/20 9:00am

On Sunday night, the Atlanta Falcons fired head coach Dan Quinn and general manger Thomas Dimitroff. Quinn and Dimitroff are the second HC and GM to be fired this season. From 2015-2020, Dan is 43-40 in the regular season.

Next Game: AT Vikings Sun,10/18/20 9:00am

Cincinnati Bengals(1-3-1) AT Baltimore Ravens(4-1)

Bengals are far from competition

Ravens rookies are coming along nicely

Baltimore overpowered Cincinnati by a score 27-3.

Cincinnati's flaws showed heavily against their division rival on Sunday. The Bengals offense, which has been pretty good lately, only had 253 yards of total offense and Joe Burrow threw an INT and fumbled twice. The offensive line allowed 7 sacks and multiple more pressures. Cinci had back-to-back weeks without a loss and enjoyed putting up 20+ points and 350+ offensive yards each of those two games.

Next Game: AT Indianapolis Sun,10/18/20 9:00am

Baltimore's first round pick Patrick Queen had himself a busy day. He had two fumble recoveries, a sack, a forced fumble, and 9 total tackles. Patrick Queen had his first sack and forced fumble against Cincinnati and he may be starting to be the dominant player he was in college. Rookie wide receiver Devin Duvernay had a great rush that went for 42 yards, he also had two receptions for 17 yards. The Ravens hope Malik Harrison can make the jump next and J.K. Dobbins can be consistent.

Next Game: AT Philadelphia Sun,10/18/20 9:00am

Jacksonville Jaguars(1-4) AT Houston Texans(1-4)

Laviska Shenault might become the new #1

Houston gets first win, and it comes one week after they fire Bill O' Brien

Houston claims first win with a 30-14 final over Jacksonville.

Laviska Shenault Jr. has been a versatile playmaker for the Jaguars offense. He can play both wide receiver and running back. So far, he has 16 receptions for 191 yards and a touchdown, he has 53 yards rushing as well. Shenault has drawn more attention as the season goes on, he has been getting more attention from Gardner Minshew as well. Laviska does need to establish himself as either a receiver or running back so he can work on the position mainly.

Next Game: VS Lions Sun,10/18/20 9:00am

Houston finally won. They put up 30+ points for the first time this season. Brandin Cooks had himself a day, the injury risk wide receiver showed Houston why they signed him. Cooks had 8 catches on 12 targets, 161 yards, and a touchdown. Four different receivers had 40+yards, Deshaun Watson had 359 yards passing and 3 touchdowns, with only ten incompletions. Romeo Crennel seems to be doing a good job so far, we will see how long it lasts.

Next Game: AT Titans Sun, 10/18/20 9:00am

Las Vegas Raiders(3-2) AT Kansas City Chiefs(4-1)

Henry Ruggs showcases his speed and hands

Chiefs defense stalls against sub-par offense

Raiders stun Kansas City in a 40-32 Las Vegas road win.

Henry Ruggs's first game back from injury is a big one. He caught two long balls that ended in 118 yards and a touchdown. Ruggs was the fastest receiver in the 2020 draft class and he has shown it this year. The Raiders got Ruggs involved and at the end it opened up for Josh Jacobs. If he continues to get targets, the running game and other players will be wide open.

Next Game: Bye

Kansas City had a reality check on Sunday, they can lose to anyone. Las Vegas scored 40 points against a Chiefs offense that hasn't allowed points above 20 to be scored. The defense only had one sack and one interception, they got torched for 491 yards and 5 touchdowns. The Chiefs can rebound in their next game, but the defense will have a hard offense to contain.

Next game: AT Buffalo Sun, Mon 10/19/20 1:00pm

Arizona Cardinals(3-2) AT New York Jets(0-5)

Isaiah Simmons may play more

Le'Veon Bell not happy in New York

In an overwhelming 30-10 loss, the Jets must consider firing Adam Gase.

Isaiah Simmons has not had an impressive season so far, in fact, its been kind of a downer. He might see more playing time because of the injury to Chandler Jones. He has seen limited playing time and no one seems to know the reason. The young athletic linebacker will have a chance to showcase why he was the 8th overall pick.

Next Game: AT Cowboys Mon,10/19/20 4:15pm

Le'Veon Bell has voiced his frustration and may have asked for a trade. Bell, who played in just his second game on Sunday, has had no luck in two years with New York. He has not even came close to what he was in Pittsburgh. Le'Veon needs an offensive line to run behind, that's when he is most successful. Maybe he can make headway in his third game back next week.

Next Game: AT Miami Sun,10/18/20 12:25pm

Los Angeles Rams(4-1) AT Washington Football Team(1-4)

Cam Akers rise in the future

Dwayne Haskins is not Washingtons' long term QB

Rams continue to raise stock with a 30-10 victory at FedExField.

Cam Akers is back from injury and was the leading rusher. Henderson got the majority of the carries but Cam Akers will get healthier and regain his spot on the depth chart. Los Angeles is being cautious with the rookie from Florida St. and I suppose it's a good thing.

Next Game: AT 49ers Sun,10/18/20 4:20pm

Dwayne Haskins has been moved to the third QB on the depth chart, Kyle Allen and Alex Smith are above him. Haskins got benched because he was bragging about his stats in his Week 4 31-17 loss to the Ravens. Haskins seems to be immature and lacks leadership, and I'm sure Washington fans don't like how he has been playing. There has been rumors that Washington is looking to trade him before the November 3rd trade deadline. The future for Dwayne Haskins doesn't look too good for him in Washington, it is unknown if a team will even trade for him.

Next Game: AT Giants Sun,10/18/20 9:00am

Miami Dolphins(2-3) AT San Francisco 49ers(2-3)

Dolphins defense is underrated

Jimmy Garoppolo gets benched for C.J. Beathard

Dolphins dominate 49ers in a 43-17 win, they scored most points against the 49ers at Levi Stadium.

The entirety of the Miami defense finished with 33 tackles, 5 sacks, 2INTs, and 2 forced fumbles. The Dolphins held Seattle to only 23 points and New England to only 21, extremely impressive. Although the defensive stats aren't impressive overall, they have kept talented offenses under 32 points who normally score more. Miami has a fairly easy schedule with a couple big games remaining, the defense should be decent and consistent throughout the rest of the season.

Next Game: VS Jets Sun,10/18/20 12:00pm

Jimmy Garoppolo was benched after throwing a touchdown, 2 interceptions, and only 77 yards. Beathard didn't do much better as he threw a touchdown for only 94 yards. Jimmy has not returned to 2019 form, most of the 49ers haven't either. Garoppolo has been injured, which is a big part of his downplay, but even last year he was carried by the defense and other offensive playmakers. San Fransisco has over $100 million dollars invested in Garoppolo, this is worrying the team.

Next Game: VS Rams Sun,10/18/20 4:20pm

Indianapolis Colts(3-2) AT Cleveland Browns(4-1)

Colts defense remains strong

Browns are a team on the rise

Cleveland shocks the NFL by winning 32-23 against the Colts in Lucas Oil Stadium.

The Colts defense had stats against the Browns but still gave up 32 points. The defense had a pair of interceptions and some sacks. Without lead and star defensive player Darius Leonard, the Colts defense played pretty well although they lost, showing how valuable he is to the team.

Next Game: VS Cincinnati Sun,10/18/20 9:00am

The Browns are 4-1 for the first time in forever, and they seem to finally fit the hype. Four straight wins is saying something about this Browns team. Kareem Hunt, who is filling in for Nick Chubb, has eased right back into the #1 RB role. Odell Beckham is getting involved in other ways, as well as Jarvis Landry. The defense is getting takeaways and scoring. The new ways of involvement seem to be working, and head coach Kevin Stefanski has to be proud of his team.

Next Game: AT Pittsburgh Sun,10/18/20 9:00am

New York Giants(0-5) AT Dallas Cowboys(2-3)

Devonta Freeman was a good pickup

Dallas can rally behind Dalton

In a thrilling, yet emotional game, Dallas comes away with a 37-34 victory over New York.

Devonta Freeman had his first decent game in a different jersey. Freeman ran the ball 17 times for 60 yards and a touchdown, he also caught 2 passes for 27 yards. He drew some attention early on then wasn't affective, which is something that has been happening to him. Devonta should start to be affective like he was on Sunday, hopefully return to his 2017 form.

Next Game: VS Washington Sun,10/18/20 9:00am

Andy Dalton will replace Dak Prescott for probably the entire season. Dalton led the Cowboys on a couple tough drives and ended up throwing 9/11 for 111 yards, including two important passes that led to the game winning field goal. The Cowboys seemed to use Dalton's confidence as a morale booster and it paid off. If Dallas can rally around their new starting QB, they can still make the playoffs.

Next Game: VS Cardinals Mon,10/19/20 4:15pm

Minnesota Vikings(1-4) AT Seattle Seahawks(5-0)

Minnesota's defense cannot hold a lead

DK Metcalf is another breed

A back-and-forth duel ended in a 27-26 Seattle win on Sunday Night.

The Vikings were up 13-0 after playing 2 quarters of football, all they had to do was continue to put their foot on the gas. Seattle scored 21 unanswered points, which led to a incredible comeback and a hopeless defense. They could not stop Seattle on the final drive from inside their own 6 yard-line. Minnesota has had problem with holding leads earlier in the season and the lack of secondary talent is mainly at fault.

Next Game: VS Falcons Sun,10/18/20 9:00am

DK Metcalf is another breed of a football player and he proved that on primetime. DK had two clutch catches, a 39 yard catch on 4th&10 with little time in the game, he also caught another 4th down that resulted in the game winning touchdown. Metcalf finished the game catching 6 passes for 93 yards and 2 scores, he has been the main target for Russell Wilson this year. He makes plays in clutch situations, and will continue to do that for years to come.

Next Game: BYE

Los Angeles Chargers(1-4) AT New Orleans Saints(3-2)

Justin Herbert gives a glimpse of him at his best

Drew Brees throws deep a few times

Monday Night went into overtime and the Saints by a score of won 30-27 off a Will Lutz 36 yard field goal.

Justin Herbert showed what he can do on primetime. Herbert finished his first primetime game going 20/34 for 264 yards and 4 touchdowns plus no INTs. Herbert threw long touchdowns and led the team on drives that counted, he kept calm and got them into field goal range, which ended up in a missed field goal. This loss was not on Justin in any way, this was his best overall game. Herbert has a big arm and he used it Monday Night. This was his first game without an interception and 4+ touchdowns. He is also the first rookie in NFL history to throw for 4 touchdowns on Monday Night. Justin Herbert has all the support from coaches, teammates, and fans, he has everything going for him right now.

Next Game: BYE

Drew Brees threw for 300+ yards for the first time since Week 2. He threw a 41 yard touchdown and threw a lot of passes over 10 yards. He didn't check down as much, but did throw an interception. He finished 33/47 for 325 yards and a touchdown, he also had a rushing touchdown on the goal-line. Questions still surround him of if he still has what it takes to be a QB or if Michael Thomas made him successful. Drew Brees is headed into a bye week then he will have his receiver back, questions will be answered then.

Next Game: BYE

Buffalo Bills(4-1) AT Tennessee Titans(4-0)

Bills played undisciplined

Tennessee defense strikes again

The first Tuesday Night game since 2010 ends in a 42-16 score in favor of the Titans.

The Buffalo offensive line had 8 or 9 penalties that totaled 40+ yards. Buffalo's offensive line seemed undisciplined against the rowdy Tennessee defensive front. Usually, their offensive line doesn't commit this many penalties in one game. Hopefully, they can get back on track.

Next Game: VS Chiefs Mon,10/19/20 1:00pm

The Titans defense overwhelmed Buffalos offense. They forced 2INTs and a fumble, a sack, and 44 tackles. For not playing or practicing for 2-3 weeks, their defense played extremely well and got pressure to Josh Allen in the second half. Malcom Butler had both interceptions and returned them for a total of 97 yards. Tennessee's defense allowed 16 points, the second lowest they've allowed all year.

Next Game: VS Houston Sun,10/18/20 9:00am
