Why the Bulls are a Playoff Team

The Bulls' future is bright and in very good hands.

John Paxson finally got fired. Excuse me. Stepped down from his position at the head of Basketball Operations and Arturas Karnisovas, the former GM of the Nuggets, was hired.

Arturas is responsible for the picks of Jusuf Nurkic, Michael Porter Jr, Monte Morris, Jamal Murray, and Nikola Jokic.

That's a pretty good resume.

When Arturas found out that former Thunder head coach Billy Donovan would not resign with the team, he was quick to act. He hired the excellent coach, and just like that, the Bulls went from having the worst coach in the league, Jim Boylen, to a top 5 coach in the league in Billy Donovan.

Donovan has cleared out staff and has already made some amazing coaches to add to his team.

Donovan has hired former All-star and Thunder assistant Maurice Cheeks and former Bucks assistant coach Josh Longstaff.

The Bulls finished 11th place in the conference last year with a rebuild in process and with an awful head coach.

This coaching staff is fantastic, so the Bulls can already make a run for the playoffs solely because of that.

As I mentioned the Bulls were still in their rebuild last year. Although they still are in the rebuild, this is the season to see if it can all come together.

Many Bulls fans think that Wendell Carter Jr. can be a massive piece for this Bulls team.

Limited to injury, Wendell averaged 11 points and 9 rebounds on 54% shooting last year. Wendell looked very promising, showing his explosiveness and ability to knock down shots from the mid-range.

There is also Lauri Markkanen. Many analysts were calling for a breakout year for Lauri last year, but he took a step back. His stats went down in nearly every category. But, Lauri was very unhappy with Boylen. He wanted out of Chicago with him at coach.

Like everyone, Boylen was not a good fit.

Lauri is an excellent shooting big and playing the power forward at 7 feet tall makes his potential through the roof. If he plays better than he did in 2019, we could see him averaging 20 points and 9 rebounds on efficient shooting.

As Bulls fans know, the Bulls drafted Coby White with their 7th pick in last year's draft. Coby was also under the influence of Jim Boylen and for a reason that no one knows he did not start nearly the entire year. Though he started just one game, in Coby's last 9 games he went on a tear. He averaged 26 points and 4 assists on efficient shooting day in and day out. White's potential was shown.

The Bulls star last year was Zach LaVine. Mostly, known for his insane dunks, LaVine showed that his skills are legit. LaVine averaged 25.5 points and 4 assists while shooting 38% from three. LaVine hated Boylen, and they were never on the same page. LaVine's athleticism and fantastic shooting can make him a star on a good team, especially with the right coaching.

As most NBA fans know, the Bulls lucked into the 4th pick in this year's draft. With the small forward position not filled out, it has been made clear that if Maccabi Tel Aviv star Deni Avdija is available he will be taken with the 4th pick in this year's draft.

The Bulls have the right management, coaching, and now, the players to make the playoffs!

See Red! Go Bulls!
