Takeaways from Packers Week 2

Packers Week 2 Takeaways

The Packers were back this week playing to a much higher level than in week 1 and looking like a well oiled unit. Here are the Top 3 things we learned from week 2.

  1. Week 1 was a fluke. I knew it was against the Lions but Aaron Rodgers was near perfect, Aaron Jones balled out, Davante Adams was terrific. The team is still very much contenders and when the defense/O-Line is fully healthy other teams should be worried.
  2. DeVondre Campbell looked really good. The 28 year old who signed with Green Bay in the offseason had 10 solo tackles, a pass defended and an interception. Looking like a good season in store for Campbell.
  3. The Packers still need a WR2. Marquez Valdez Scantling has had 12 targets for only 3 receptions, Randall Cobb has looked pretty solid so far but is far past his WR2 prime, and Allan Lazard, Chris Blair and Equanemious St. Brown are non factors. We need someone and soon.

The Packers play the 49ers next week that struggled to win against the Lions (blew massive lead late) and against Eagles (Closer than it needed to be) so we shall see.

Responses

  1. Week 1 was definitely a fluke on the offensive side of the football, but I wouldn’t say that was the same for the defense. Gotta see that defense go a full 4 quarters against a team before I can say they’re back on track. The Niners should be a good test for them both ways. I disagree where you say that the Niners struggled to win their 2 games when they were in control of both games for the entirety of it. Against the Lions they let them recover an onside kick to make the score closer, but the actual game wasn’t. Then against Philly they were control the entire game before the Eagles scored a late TD to make it a 1 score game. Next week should be a great game and I look forward for your takeaways next week.

  2. Wide Receivers have always been a problem for Green Bay. There were plenty of guys who could serve as WR2 who were available for them in the draft. Rondale Moore is one that comes to mind for me. He just had an amazing week.
