Minnesota extended their preseason losing streak to 10 games with their 18-17 loss to the Cardinals Saturday.
Recap
Both teams rested a ton of players in the final game of the preseason. That gave a lot of the bubble players who are fighting for a spot the opportunity to showcase their talent.
QB Jaren Hall was slinging the hall early. He went 3/4 on the first drive for 44 yards. 7th round pick DeWayne McBride capped off the drive with a 1 yard run up the middle for a touchdown, his second of the season.
S Jay Ward came off the edge for a sack that caused a fumble. Jaren Hall and Minnesota got the hall on the 5 yard line and it took 1 play to throw a touchdown to Abram Smith.
WR Blake Proehl led Minnesota in receiving yards with 45 on 5 catches. He was coming off a really poor performance against Tennessee. Thayer Thomas muffed his second punt of the preseason, not a good look. Luckily Troy Reeder recovered.
C.J. Coldon had a solid game in coverage. He didn’t really play in the other games. Had a PBU. Sheldon Day had another good game up front. Swatted a pass to lead to a 4th down punt.
Rookie DL Jaquelin Roy made his preseason debut after missing the first 2 with an injury. He looked solid and had a nice pressure into a dump off. LB Ivan Pace Jr. got the day off with the other starters.
Greg Joseph gave Vikings fans a reason to question his kicking ability again after missing a potential late go-ahead field goal.
My Thoughts
Overall, I think this game really showed some of our weaknesses like OL depth. Hall was running out of time in the pocket very quickly again. Onto roster cuts!
