Titans vs Raiders Game Recap

Takes from the Titans 24-22 Win over LV Raiders

The Tennessee Titans get their first win of the season over the Raiders 24-22. With the first win, there are many takeaways to look on. Some positive and some negative. Let’s look at the positives first. WR Robert Woods had a great game gathering 85 yards on just 4 receptions with a long of 41 yards. Another positive on the offense, Derrick Henry. Derrick had 20 carries for 85 rush yards and a td; he also had 5 receptions for 58 yards and came out to show he is not washed. QB Ryan Tannehill may have an interception in the second half, but don’t let that distract you that he had 264 passing yards, 1 passing td, and 1 rushing td. The most surprising takeaway from this game is that the play calling actually wasn’t that bad! Todd Downing has had some absolutely terrible play calling this year but didn’t do half bad yesterday.

Onto the defense. DE Jeffery Simmons continues to showcase his raw power and talent. Even when he isn’t getting sacks, he still making impacts while being double-teamed which opens up opportunities for the rest of the dline and olbs. Speaking of olbs, with the loss of Harold Landry, the titans needed someone to step up and Rashad Weaver has done exactly that. He has 2 sacks 3 weeks into the season. Just a very fast and versatile rusher on the edge. CB Kristian Fulton who was returning from a hamstring injury this week, played GREAT yesterday. Breaking up many passes, but the most impressive part of his game was his tackling. He was hitting hard and breaking down making clean tackles all game. And probably the best takeaway from the defense is rookie CB Rodger McCreary is a STUD. Already being named starter as a rookie week one is impressive, but he continues to impress being a lockdown corner.

Now, onto the negatives. This first one seems to be a reoccurring problem with the titans. The offense NEEDS to continue in the second half. The Titans offense didn’t get ANY points in the second half. Although the defense held up, the offense has to start playing the entire game. Onto the defense, newly signed CB Terrance Mitchell has got to go. He played TERRIBLE, making Mack Hollins look like the next Calvin Johnson. The Titans need to just play Caleb Farley and let him develop. Also the Elijah Molden injury is looking for impactful than anyone thought out to be.

But the Titans got the Win and that’s all that matters. Titan Up💙⚔️
