Vikings 7-Round Mock Draft 1.0

Round 1-Pick 12

Tyler Linderbaum, IOL, Iowa

At this point in the draft, Sauce Gardner, Andrew Booth Jr and Derek Stingley Jr were off the board. That leads to plan D, and a solid plan, in center Tyler Linderbaum out of Iowa. Linderbaum has the versatility to move over to guard if needed, and if Garrett Bradbury is not the long-term guy at center, Linderbaum is a perfect replacment.

Round 2-Pick 44

Lewis Cine, Safety, Georgia

In this mock, all notable 1st round talented corners were gone. So instead, with Xavier Woods most likely leaving, we grab the National Championship Player of the Game, Lewis Cine. Cine is great in man coverage so he could be used as a slot corner if that’s what KOC and Ed decide to do with him, but from what I believe Cine will be a great Free Safety in this league.

Round 3-Pick 76

Derion Kendrick, Cornerback, Georgia

With the Vikings still in need of a true Corner, Derion Kendrick is a perfect pick. Some mock have him as a first-round talented guy, I don’t see that as I think he is a little raw, but he has the ceiling to be a number 1 corner. Plus, you keep him with college teammate Lewis Cine. If Pat Pete is resigned Kendrick is the perfect prospect to bring under his wing.

Round 5-Pick 155

D’Marco Jackson, Linebacker, Appalachian State

With Barr and Vigil most likely gone, Jackson is a guy that can work into the role of a outside linebacker. I haven’t watched too much film on him yet, but he’s above average in coverage and open field tackles from what i’ve seen so far. He can be a good tool for Ed to use in his new defense.

Round 6-Pick 182

Kalon Barnes, Cornerback, Baylor

Obviously 1 corner wont do everything we need. Barnes is a guy I think is a underrated prospect, I think he lacks in press coverage, but if we use him as a zone slot guy, I think Ed can form him into a starting caliber player.

Round 6-Pick 190

LaBryan Ray, EDGE, Alabama

Depth at EDGE never hurts anyone. With Danielle’s future in Minnesota in question, a Nick Saban prospect can be a good guy to add to the deep rotation of EDGE rushers the Vikings already have. Using him on first downs, switching with guys like Kenny Willekes, Janarius Robinson, and Patrick Jones III, I think he could become something one day.

Round 7-Pick 226

Matt Araiza, Kicker/Punter, San Diego State

The versatility of Araiza is the entire reason of this pick. Jordan Berry is a great punter, but he’s up there in age. If we plan to use him as a kicker, maybe have a battle between Araiza and Joseph in camp, his leg is that talented he can do it all.
