Warriors Dynasty, Curry’s Legacy, and More!

The 2021-2022 NBA season brought lots of moments that will never be forgotten. Stephen Curry now has the most threes in NBA history, big super teams failing, Jokic winning MVP back to back, and so much more. The Golden State Warriors were able to bring another championship home after beating the Boston Celtics in 6. Stephen Curry finally got his Finals MVP. Jordan Poole emerged and stepped up. Klay Thompson gets a ring after being out for two years. Steve Kerr gets his 9th ring (4 as a coach). But what does all of this mean for the Warriors Dynasty? Is it over or will they keep it up? Where does this dynasty rank all time? Where does Stephen Curry rank all time? What does this mean for the Celtics? That is where I come into play and discuss these questions and answers.

Back in 2009, the Golden State Warriors drafted Stephen Curry from Davidson with the 7th overall pick. Two years later in 2011, they selected Klay Thompson with the 11th pick from Washington State. And then a year later after that, with the 35th pick, they landed Draymond Green from Michigan State. Little did everyone know, within four years of drafting, the Warriors had their dynasty started. These three players would all be key pieces in their championship runs. Stephen Curry began to make a name for himself and became known for his three point abilities. The same thing happened with Klay Thompson and they became known as the Splash Bros. Draymond Green was known for his amazing defensive play. Their chemistry was on top. They would begin their dynasty in the 2014-2015 season where they went 67-15 beating a new franchise record for the most wins in a season. They would go on to face LeBron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers. The Warriors ended up winning 4-2. The next year, they went 73-9, the best win-loss record of all-time. They made it to the Finals to rematch the Cavs. They went up 3-1 in the series and it looked like they would be back to back champs. But LeBron and Kyrie were not going to let that slide. The Cavs came back and won 4-3. The next year was another matchup between the Warriors and Cavs in the Finals. The Warriors took this one 4-1. And for the fourth time in a row, they met each other in the Finals AGAIN the next year. Golden State was tired of it and swept the Cavs. Even though the Cavs stopped their run, the Warriors did not and made a trip to the Finals for the 5th time in a row. They had to go against Kawhi and the Raptors. However, Kawhi seemed unstoppable that year and won 4-2. Klay Thompson was out for 2 years after that and the Warriors couldn’t get back to the Finals. But when Klay made his return, the Warriors made their Finals return. This time against the Boston Celtics. The Celtics were competing to get their 18th championship and pass the Los Angeles Lakers again. However, the Warriors did not want that and won 4-2. And as of now, that pretty much concludes their dynasty. It is definitely a top 5 dynasty of all time. Its competition includes the Bulls 6-0 run, the Spurs, the Lakers, and the 11-2 Celtics. But is this dynasty even over yet? The future will tell us whether they keep going or make a stop but either way, it was a fun dynasty.

Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson, and Draymond Green all have four rings now. But only one has proven to be one of the best players of all time. They are all really good but Curry is on another level. He is the best three point shooter of all time, has two MVPs, one Finals MVP, eight all star selections, and one All Star MVP. He has been in many debates about whether he his the best point guard of all time where he usually is argued with Magic Johnson. Magic has three MVPs, three Finals MVPs, five NBA Championships, twelve all star selections, and two All Star MVPs. So I think it is safe to say that Magic has the better accolades. However, Curry is such a different player despite being the same position. Curry is a small point guard who is really good at shooting. Magic was a bigger point guard, who loved to pass and get triple doubles. I still think Magic is a better player but I think Curry still has a chance to prove me wrong nearing the end of his career. We will just have to wait and see what happens. I do think that he is a top 10 player of all time though. He just has so much in his career that it is hard to criticize him.

The Boston Celtics took a tough loss in their home stadium. But they still have young stars leading. Jayson Tatum has proved to be a really good player. I just think his first time being in the Championship messed with him a little bit. They also have a young Jaylen Brown who usually steps up in times they need him to. Al Horford is most likely reaching the end of his career. They also have Marcus Smart who was Defensive Player of the year. Hopefully they get most of their players back and make another run. It was just a young team who had the nerves get to them as well as Curry. I am excited to see what these players and this team can do in the near future.
