What Happened to the Packers?

What Happened to the Packers?

The Packers suffered a brutal 38-3 loss to the Saints on Sunday, which came as a surprise to most as the Packers are only a 8 months removed from a NFC championship appearance and Aaron Rodgers, last year was the MVP. Let’s take a look

  1. Aaron Rodgers didn’t have it. He completed 53% of passes for only 133 yards and 2 picks. Rodgers was uncharacteristically bad and even got benched late for Love, who out performed him. I think the issue was Rodgers showing up late for training camp and I doubt there’s any other issues going on here.
  2. The receiving core struggled big time. Scantling caught 43% of targets, while Rodgers didn’t target Tonyan as much as usual. The running backs were underused (15 total carries), but Aaron Jones looked awful.
  3. The Defensive Lines inability to stop the rushing game was unacceptable (171 yards allowed) and our secondary got cooked in the red zone by multiple backup WRs.

Final Thoughts: The Packers play Detroit this week so the offense should be back on track, BUT the Lions had 414 total yards against the 49ers fantastic defense, so we shall see…
