What Happened to the Packers?
The Packers suffered a brutal 38-3 loss to the Saints on Sunday, which came as a surprise to most as the Packers are only a 8 months removed from a NFC championship appearance and Aaron Rodgers, last year was the MVP. Let’s take a look
- Aaron Rodgers didn’t have it. He completed 53% of passes for only 133 yards and 2 picks. Rodgers was uncharacteristically bad and even got benched late for Love, who out performed him. I think the issue was Rodgers showing up late for training camp and I doubt there’s any other issues going on here.
- The receiving core struggled big time. Scantling caught 43% of targets, while Rodgers didn’t target Tonyan as much as usual. The running backs were underused (15 total carries), but Aaron Jones looked awful.
- The Defensive Lines inability to stop the rushing game was unacceptable (171 yards allowed) and our secondary got cooked in the red zone by multiple backup WRs.
Final Thoughts: The Packers play Detroit this week so the offense should be back on track, BUT the Lions had 414 total yards against the 49ers fantastic defense, so we shall see…
